Classical Guitar

I first began playing the classical guitar when I was four years old, and it has become an integral part of my life ever since. From practicing on my bed to performing at winner's concerts for competitions, the instrument has never failed to bring me comfort and joy. I use the instrument as another means of expressing myself, cherishing the feeling of getting lost in the music.

Competitions

Apart from playing casually, I have participated in multiple guitar competitions. I took first place in the Junior (2016, 13 & younger) and Senior (2019, 19 & younger) divisions in the nation-wide Society of American Musicians guitar competitions. I also took second place in the senior division of the Chicago Guitar Festival. Although my primary motivation for playing and performing the classical guitar is for my own enjoyment and love, it's still fun to test my skills against others!

Community

​Guitar has given me so much, so I have acted as an role model and teacher among younger students. For example, I participate in a rock band over the summer that constitutes of students in lower school and middle school. I spend this time as a mentor and example to the younger kids, being someone they can look up to. I love working with them, and spending a portion of my summer motivating them to keep making music!
